Since 1941, Allied Tools has been providing products manufactured by its metal spinning machines. This process is also known as spin forming or metal turning. Our machinery is capable of performing several operations in one set-up and our experienced personnel are capable of producing products from 16 gauge to 7 gauge.
Metal spinning is performed on a disc or tube of metal to produce rounded parts for a wide variety of applications, including cylinders, domes, nose cones, hemispheres, lids, etc. Allied Tools specializes in manufacturing parts for industries where the final product must be manufactured to the highest standards.
Allied Tools produces products using this process from a wide selection of materials, including copper, brass, aluminum, cold and hot rolled steel, stainless steel, exotic metals including titanium, and a variety of alloys. We specialize in low volume, highly specialized products where quality and dependability are of utmost importance such as the aviation and petro-chemical industry. Each piece is hand made by our highly experienced personnel to your exact specifications.
With over seventy years of experience, Allied Tools has gained an excellent reputation for delivering products to exact specification to industries around the world where quality of workmanship is of utmost importance. Our process and experience allows us to provide these high quality products at very competitive prices.
The Metal Spinning Process
This process is used to produce cones, hemispheres, and other cylindrical objects. Circular metal blanks are secured to a mandrel or chuck mounted on a lathe using a tailstock. The metal blank is then rotated and a tool known as a roller is then pressed against the blank repeatedly, gradually forming the blank into the required shape, duplicating the shape of the exterior portion of the mandrel. As the blank is stretched during the process, the finished product is a thinner gauge than the original metal blank.
